International Recognition: Chinese Wisdom Steps onto the World Stage
PetroChina's Shanghai Research Institute has launched a new R&D base—the first "near-zero carbon, lights-out modular laboratory" demonstration project in the Yangtze River Delta region. By integrating AI and Lights-out Laboratories technology, the facility enables real-time monitoring and optimized control of energy consumption, environmental conditions, and equipment operations, projected to reduce overall energy use by 21%. Additionally, an automated robotic reagent library coupled with an intelligent management system ensures fully automated reagent storage, retrieval, and optimized scheduling, significantly enhancing both experimental safety and efficiency. Beyond achieving efficient, low-carbon management of energy, resources, and waste across the lab’s architecture and mechanical-electrical systems, this innovative facility sets a new green and low-carbon benchmark for high-standard R&D buildings through its industrialized, digitalized, and smart construction and operational model—making it highly valuable as a model for wider adoption and replication.

This year’s 2025 Research Architecture and Project Award is not only a recognition of Dena Technology’s past efforts, but also marks a new starting point as the company ventures into the global market and prepares to compete on the international stage. Moving forward, Dena Technology will continue collaborating closely with partners both at home and abroad, working together to drive the global laboratory industry toward a greener, lower-carbon, and more sustainable future.
